Would I embrace the dark side or… well, the other side? The side that isn’t dark. There is the Force, and then there is a subset of the Force– a corruption of the Force known as the Dark Side. Honestly, I think it is the other way around.

Those of you not familiar with creation science may not realize that there is a formula useful in the construction of creationist arguments. I’d like to briefly map out that formula and provide examples. I found a very good one at AnswersInGenesis.
Step 1: Browse the accepted scientific publications for articles which might, with some massaging, show chinks in the armor of one of several theories that are favorite targets for creationist attack. Evolution is one such target, and the Big Bang is another very popular one. In my example, it is the latter that is chosen.

I suppose this is my week to fear my fellow man. I am not afraid of terrorists, nor of conquest by a foreign power, nor of WMDs. I am afraid of my compatriots.
First it was the Times Article, then the Supreme Court Decision. Now, while browsing the Maiden’s web logs, I find the following phrase:
our goal is a christian nation….we have a biblical duty we are called by god to conquer this country. we don t want equal time. we don’t want pluralism. we want theocracy. theocracy means god rules.

I had intended to comment, but this gentleman has done a great job for me.
THE END OF PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS
I cannot remember being more dismayed at a court ruling, and this includes the occasional ruling against me when I was practicing law. What ruling? Just in case you don’t already know, the United States Supreme Court yesterday issued a ruling that goes a long way toward destroying private property rights in this country.

Time asked a simple question of its readers. Is Guantanamo Bay a positive or a negative for U.S. security? I foolishly assumed that the answers would somewhat resemble the information circulating in the media concerning the subject. Id est, I assumed the answers would somewhat resemble the facts. Instead, I find such things as the following:
Positive: every detainee is one less person able to kill Americans. I have absolutely no sympathy for any of them. Our enemy has no problem killing us. Women, children, liberals, conservatives, Catholics, Protestants—they don’t care. Why should we care if these prisoners are “uncomfortable”?
