Then what do we teach them?

posted in Creationism by themaiden |

Utah Rep. James Ferrin sponsored a bill that “would have required science teachers to single out the theory of evolution among all other scientific theories by stating that it is “not a fact” and that the state does not endorse the theory.” It was shot down, in a bizarre show of sanity in the legislature. In an interview, Ferrin gave the world a piece of his mind.

House sponsor Rep. James Ferrin said “Frankly I am not interested in teaching our kids what is in fact based solely on scientific inferences.”

What, I wonder, should we be teaching the kids? ‘Facts’ not based upon scientific inference? ‘Facts’, perhaps, like those told to a young troublemaker by Angels? ‘Facts’ like “the American Indians are descended form the ancient Hebrews”?
