… to even bring up the fact that they ruthlessly treated women as mere objects of their base desires would be considered bad manners…not quite “progressive” enough in a society where some are trying to call prostitutes, “sex workers”.
In the by and by the truth of the events at Duke will come out - but the societal disease which set the stage for this sorry event will not even be discussed.

What I can’t decide is whether the whole thing, the whole post, was a set-up for the cheap shot. I hope it wasn’t. That kind of attitude about a subject as this one would be perverse, and not at all in a leather panties and whipped cream kind of fun way. No, I hope the quip stems from something less intentionally malevolent, from blinders that force an equation of ’sex’ with ‘abuse’ except within the narrowly confined limits religion allows. Never mind that it is just this equation which fuels the abuse of ‘bad’ girls.
The disrespect for people doesn’t stem from ‘progressive’– technically the belief that government can fix all of society’s problems, by the way– thinking. Based upon descriptions I’ve read, you’d be hard pressed to find a ‘progressive’, or ony other kind of liberal, in the bunch. And Noonan must certainly have considered this, so why not mention it? Why poison a good story with yet another attempt to blame something on ‘the left’?
