This ought to stick in some intelligently designed craws.

Conservatives Against Intelligent Design

[edit June 15, 2006]

I knew CAID would annoy the ID-ists, and I am not terribly surprised that it annoyed this particular bunch of ID-ists.

Well, it started up at the end of May, so it’s not all that new. This goes to show you that conservatives can be just as close-minded as anybody else. What we need now is liberal support for ID and we’ll be all set! Go here to check it out.

They never fail to extract a sad smirk from me. Those holding opinions backed by 150 or so years or research and reams of papers, are “closed-minded”. What arrogance! And the sentence itself is pretty rich in irony– “… conservatives can be just as close-minded as anybody else”.

Also interesting, in the third of four comments, mentok demonizes the site…

I wouldn’t doubt if that site is from Ayn Rand’s Objectivism people. They are militant atheists and militant conservatives.

… while mike1962 has a fit.

Eyes rolling spasmodically.

Those two comments say a lot about the whole movement. What about the science guys? What about the science?

[later that same day]

Interesting. Comment order has been flipped around a bit. What is going on at UncommonDescent? Whatever it is, its provided some more quotes of interest. For example, a commenter wanders into politico-moral conspiracy theory.

It will be interesting to watch the libertarians, for they decry the Left’s statism but tend to embrace its moral debauchery. Giving ID a voice requires freedom of expression, but if Darwin was wrong it may be difficult to remain an intellectually fulfilled atheist. A good libertarian might find himself conflicted.

And more conspiracy theory.

Anderson: the thought has also crossed my mind that the site may not have been designed by conservatives at all, but may be another “Let’s try to get the Clergy and Conservatives” to help us ploy by the Darwinist camp.

And a mild case of denial to boot.

All I know is that ID != Right Wing…

Well, possibly not ideally, but take a look at how the battle is drawn. The fight is in the courts. It is political, and frankly, the Right– the hard religious Right– is ID best friend in these arenas.

Now WHY (oh Why) would you post the word count and reading time?

What if I read *faster* or wish to dawdle?

Mr. Language Wordsmith disapproves of word counts…as he always says things in as many words as AbsolutelY Necessary! Not more and not Less!

    *wink*

    Lol!

That is actually a side effect of a WordPress plugin called Post Teaser, which does something I consistently forget to do– chop the posts into a short previews for the homepage. It would be easy to eliminate those lines. I just haven’t decided whether or not I want too. Your though has crossed my mind though. Ooooohhhhh, creepy scary mind voodoo….
