Lying Socialist Weasel

Phila, at Bouphonia, writes:

This idea… would be funny if it hadn’t been getting people killed for decades, and if it hadn’t been debunked time and again. The modern conservative’s approach… is similar to the average 1970s socialist’s approach to Marx: don’t bother reading him, just listen to someone else describe what he said… For self-serving and vicious perversity, the conservative movement’s misreading… is second only to the Religious Right’s misreading of the Gospels.

Lying Socialist Weasel

Yes, I edited Phila heavily. I did this to avoid giving away the punchline, which is that Phila is talking about Conservative God, Libertarian Holy Man, and free market Top Cut-Throat…

Sex, sluts, media and morality

Sex on TV. Sluts in fashion. Filth in film. Songs about Fucking. The media is bombarding society with sin. Half the actresses in Hollywood have bared their breasts and most have pranced bare backsides across the screen. Sex is a staple, even intruding into otherwise fine space violence. Near naked bodies float through magazines and across billboards like sirens singing songs of copulation. And the web has given the world access to more nakedness than ever before in human history– well, except for most of our time on the planet. We all did run around naked for at least a million or so years before we invented clothes, and even then, much of humanity seems to have opted out of that fashion.

Of Saints and Creationists

Parabiodox quotes a portion of St. Augustine– arguably not a secular godless materialist conspirator– that creationists ought to consider carefully.

Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn.

Privileged Nonsense… again.

Nonsense once around is just never enough. ID the Future is ironically trumpeting a very old argument.

On this episode of ID The Future we’re highlight a short clip of senior fellow Dr. Guillermo Gonzalez at the 2006 Intelligent Design Under Fire conference where he discusses the hypothesis he and co-author Jay Richards laid out in their book The Privileged Planet, which is that The conditions for life in the universe correlate or overlap with the conditions you need to make scientific discoveries.Intelligent Design the Future: The Privileged Planet Hypothesis

As I have commented before:

Guess who missed that meeting?

46 of 49 nations OK ban on cluster bombs, but the US wasn’t involved. Apparently this nation feels that bombs make good toys after a war is over. The Lib’rals ought to be thrilled. They’re all about recycling, after all. Why waste good unexploded ordnance, when it can just sit in field waiting for a stranger to pick it up?
