Email Offenders

Colorado now has a law that targets the online personas of those convicted of sexual offenses related to minors.

House Bill 1326 seeks the e-mail addresses, chat room identities and text message handles of the state’s roughly 4,500 child sex offenders. Those who fail to provide accurate information or no information at all will face separate felony charges and a revocation of their parole.

Sex offenders must register e-mail under new laws starting July 1

I can get behind this one. It touches some privacy issues, but considering the high rates of recidivism and the extraordinary counts of offenses that sexual predators of this type rack up, monitoring in every way possible is probably justified.

That “Eight Things” Thing

I’ve been tagged twice now for that “Eight Things” things that is floating around the blogosphere, once by The Anonymous Atheist and once by Kristi of PinkProzac. I suppose I’d better make my list.

But first… the rules run something like this.

- We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
- Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
- People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
- At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
- Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

I suppose it is just a gay day

A comment during the night seems to have set the stage for today’s content. I guess it is just a gay day.

Defenceless Queerling– “the delicious dyke you wish you’d shagged”… ahem, indeed– offers a list of “Things You Need To Know About Lesbians”. The following is my favorite. I quote at risk to my life, mind you– “Copyright: Mialicious (and don’t you dare steal this list without my consent!)”– but I don’t think one wee little teaser counts as theft. “Fair Use” trumps “Copyright” but I’ll pull it if I get a complaint.

The Religion of Love

Some comments deserve special attention, don’t you think? Like this one, for example.

yeah go lesbians…STRAIGHT to hell you fucking dykes! fuck you max you queer lover!

The weird logic of Gay Hate | hell’s handmaiden

WordPress asks for an URL,but doesn’t require one, from from individuals posting comments. “Chris”, the author of the above example of God’s infinite and unconditional love, kindly provided one. It leads here, to Believe Mail.

Obviously Right… but oh so wrong.

New Zealand atmospheric scientist August “Augie” Auer, recently deceased, has gotten a lot of press for his statements that global warming is “all going to be a joke in five years“. A number of newspapers picked up the story, and so have numerous web sites. I found him quoted here, complete with a taste of “global warming is a religion” nonsense which, frankly, is just smear. I found a thread at FreeRepublic, a post at MoonBattery, and another at MPinkEyes. I came across Augie’s prediction via Obviously Right, hence the title of this post. But the title also reflect the kind of lack of reflection that typifies the Augie quoting.
