I found the image quite by accident, at the link above. There is no context that might offer some explanation. It just sits alone on its page, a sad testament– apparently– to human nature.
Let’s think about this.
First… Muslim == Ape. It is hard to escape that equivalency. The choice of film to parody is enough evidence. But read on.
A religion so barbaric and backwards…
Backwards and barbaric? Compared to what? Compared to the SOB who generated this image? Compared to the millions similarly willing to lump around a billion and a half people into the same stereotype? Compared to the hard line Christian fundamentalists who deny, whether they realize it or not, virtually the whole of human knowledge in order to hold onto faith in a very old book? Barbaric? Compared to abortion clinic bombers? Compared to …
… the bastards who wrap their kids in hate?
… considered a threat by the leaders of the Civilized World…
Would that be the civilized world just described? The one that dresses its kids in hatred? The one whose people compare murder to a controlled burn of forest? The civilized world that has brutalized– deceived, cheated, raped– the middle east for more than a century and can’t quite figure out why they don’t like us? And we are still at it. We have beaten the crap out of the people of Iraq to, officially at least, remove a nasty dictator who we put into power in the first place. The Iraqis are pissed? I would be. But why stop at the middle east? This civilized world has brutalized pretty much everyone within its power– India, the native Australians, the Americas, countless islanders. Is this the civilized world where domestic violence is “the most common cause of injury to women ages 15 to 44“? Where about a quarter can’t figure out that the Suns moves around the Earth? “The Judeo-Christian west has had its chance to shine, and it shone blood red with violence, corruption, hypocrisy, and superstition.” It is asinine to set the that up as a standard.
It is equally asinine to set up set up Islam– even though they do dress funny– as the polar opposite, as the black to our shining white, as the Bad to our Good, the Satanic to our Saintly. They aren’t the devil. We aren’t angels. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
But, of course, not being Christian is attack enough on ‘civilization’.
By the time the voices of the majority were heard…
The ‘majority’ says a lot of damned stupid things. That the ‘majority’ buys this garbage is questionable anyway. The “everyone else is doing it” fallacy, perhaps?
Evil fingers of Islam… slithered… malignant cancer…
… just stand around and do nothing.
Even if Islam is dreaming of Global Dominance, it isn’t the only religion with that fantasy. Christians don’t send out missionaries for nothing. Onward Christian soldiers, right?
We are not locked in mortal combat with Islam. At least, we don’t have to be. There is a group of people desperate to make it happen though. One hand of the group is the radical Islamic factions, which certainly do exist. The other hand is the people who buy the lie that all of Islam is like the radical factions. All Christians are like Rev. Phelps, right? Well, no. Not really. All Jews are dishonest money lenders, right? All blacks are sex crazed, white-woman obsessed, rapists. Right? No. But with Islam people have given themselves the right to assert the same kind of stupidity.
