Oh MY GOD! These people have normal human bodies!

And kinda cute ones too.

Vanessa Hudgens. Ashley Tisdale. Skin. Skin. Skin.

I will be so god-damned happy when ‘naked’ stops being sooooooo shocking. Come on people, when are we going to grow up? Hudgens took pictures of herself for her boyfriend proving 1) that she is a sexual creature like everyone else and 2) that she looks like most everyone else her age. And this is a big deal exactly why? Tisdale showed a little boob, accidentally. Oh the horror!

Sure they are cute. Sure they are moderately famous, though I’d not heard of either before the ’scandal’. But, frankly, so what? It is embarrassing that the US public reverts to puberty over things like this.

When it rains it pours for Vanessa Hudgens. The female star of the Disney blockbuster hits High School Musical’s one and two has graduated from East high and has entered adulthood with a full blown scandal that seemingly gets worse with each passing day. There have been hints that more photos of Vanessa in compromising positions are coming and some have indeed hit.

You’d think Hudgens was the anti-Christ, corrupting the youth, destroying the nation, building dirty bombs out of fire detectors.

And then there is the lesbian rumors…

This time Vanessa seems to be involved in a bit of girl on girl kissing and playing and in one photo appears to be simulating a little action with a friends breast. She has her hand on the girl’s leg and her mouth wide open. Both gals are clothed.

… lesbian rumors based on a few ridiculously goofy pics of Hudgens faking a tongue kiss. But so what? Even if she were a lesbian, what difference does it make, really? Which brings me to the second point of the rant…

I will be so god-damned happy when ‘gay’ stops being sooooooo shocking. ‘Gay’ ain’t that uncommon. Gay ain’t socially disruptive. Gay ain’t a mental disease.

Of course, this kind of thing does serve as a nice distraction from really important things. No doubt, for example, more people have heard of– and more people care about– Hudgens nudie pic and Tisdale’s puffy than know about, for example…

I don’t find Hudgens or Tisdale unpleasant. I don’t find the pictures unpleasant. I don’t find ‘lesbian’ unpleasant. What I find unpleasant is that people make such a big deal out of it, and I didn’t rationalize for that.

In contrast, our society makes only the most trivial efforts to prevent the depiction of violence. Yet, the percentage of Americans who have ever used a firearm, explosive or bladed weapon in anger is far smaller, even most police and military personnel never personally kill or seriously wound someone in their entirely career, and almost all violence by anyone other than a solider or a cop is illegal. Hell, even a typical movie car chase is enough to send the average person to stint in jail.

Watch out now! If you can’t bend your brain through enough complicated apologetics to white wash this kind of thing someone might accuse you of having a painfully limited understanding of theology.
