More Persecuting Christians

posted in Religion by themaiden |

There is an interesting set of videos on YouTube. They seem to center around the following.

YouTube is not quite censoring but certainly limiting atheist content? Well, that is the question.

There is quite a string of videos related to the topic. I took a look at YouTube Censors Atheists: Here’s the Proof, Youtube: Promoting Bullshit & Censoring Brilliance, and More Censoring of Atheists.

As this guy says, it is dangerous to jump too quickly to conclusions about occurrences on a site as large as YouTube. Glitches happen. Software is a cruel mistress, and all that. One YouTube-er, though, offered what strikes me as a plausible answer.

An even better run-down of the same idea…

Now, with that in mind…

No Youtube Porn. No violent images intended to shock. Nothing offensive. Nothing under copyright. Get the idea? I know. There is a lot of legal weirdness about what can and cannot fits the disclaimers, but it is nonetheless difficult to argue that YouTube rigorously follows its standards. In general, this isn’t a criticism. YouTube needs the disclaimers but being a kind of militant Open Source sort of personality, I’m happy that they apply those standards only when forced into it. I do find it annoying that the standards might be applied but applied with a bias.

I am leaving that topic for your consideration and turning to that hinted at in my title– the persecution of Christians.

Isn’t that interesting? He never moves throughout the whole video. Hmm…

Funny, he’s put up a few other similar posts– Re: Re: I was The Amazing Atheist until I converted!, Re: The Amazingly Challenged Atheist, Re: I REJECT ATHEISIM NOW: THE NEW ME!, Re: The ‘Amazing’ Withdrawal (TAA vs VFX update)

Hat-tip: Ben’s Place: Censorship of Atheists on YouTube? and The Amazing Atheist is a Changed Man!!. Isn’t it interesting that the reborn atheist doesn’t move at all in any of these videos? Strange… wait. Maybe this isn’t the same person at all, but just the faithful behaving badly? Isn’t that fun?

The ‘converted’ videos come from warfareofspirit– a self employed cartpet cleaner and “BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH!!”– and TheAmazingAthest. I’d bet the two accounts are intimately related. So, fighting the good fight? With what? Slander? Deception– poorly done but still deception? Good move. I’m sure God is happy.

Yes, indeed, more persecuting Christians. Idiots.

more than christian food fighting. I find it wilder that they are stealing Obama & Edwards messages of hope and change.

Now both Huckabee & Romney are yelling change when a week ago they weren’t near the change word.

    Chloe,

I have no problem with Huckabee and Romney changing their stripes. You’ve got to grant people the right to change their minds. Of course, that assumes that these two are really changing their stripes and not just pretending. Sadly, I’d bet on the latter.

Well, if YouTube is censoring atheists, they you can just add atheists to the long list of sub-communities that are routinely censored by YouTube, Google Pages, Blogger, etc. It cracks me up to hear Google lamenting censorship in other countries when right here in the USA the company is engaged in widespread censorship of constitutionally protected speech.
