You know… the original Olympics served as a time that the Greeks could gather despite their sometimes severe disagreements. They even put hot wars on hold during the games. The quasi-democratic Athenians stopped killing the harshly authoritarian Spartans and visa versa. The concept behind such rules seems ot have been a kind of admission and even celebration of the fact that despite their differences all of the Greeks were still at heart Greek. I’d like to think that some of that spirit remains, though embracing all of humanity and not just the Greeks. Despite our differences, we are all human.

Or maybe, “Blogs for not getting that their namesake is a joke”.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is giving away bumper stickers that read “Sorry, W, I’m the Decider; Dems in 08″. I might order one myself, although I’m not sure I’ll stick it on my car. The Democrats have yet to “Wow!’ me. But it is funny nonetheless.
Mark, though, thinks he sees a bright light shining at the end of the tunnel.

Coming on the heals of my post about Gen. Taguba’s Report and coming on the heals of years of Pentagon, Defense Department, and Bush Administrations lies, cover-ups and scandals, Mark Noonan argues with fabulous irony that we ought to trust the Multi-National Force Iraq news service because, well, the soldiers have been given orders not to lie.
The MSM has all too often been proven liars - meanwhile, the soldier-reporters assigned to MNF-I are under orders not to lie…and they’ll get in a lot more trouble if they do than, say, Dan Rather got with his “fake but accurate” news…MNF-I is just more worthy of our trust.

Ah, Europe… Decadent Old Europe… The Great Corruptor… The canary in the coal mine of humanity, first to succumb to the modernist poisons…
… our society has degnerated quite a bit until, as Steyn points out, parts of it are becoming post-human. … Things which would shocked and revolted the whole world 30 years ago are just more hum-drum news these days. And don’t think I let off the United States on this - we’re not nearly as depraved as parts of Europe, but we’ve got our shop of horrors to go through as well.
