Of course I’m no doctor and my pronouncements as to the Colorado politician’s sanity should not be taken as medical advice, but…
“If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina…”

Welcome to the July 16, 2007 edition of Colorado Politics.
Turnout for this carnival was not what I’d hoped, which is probably my fault for not yet having constructed an official carnival homepage. And because of this limited turnout– which was low but non-zero– I’ve decided to co-opt some exemplary posts from around the web.
The carnival is open to any Colorado Blogger writing politics, or to any other blogger writing about politics in Colorado or about its national Senators and Representatives.

Colorado now has a law that targets the online personas of those convicted of sexual offenses related to minors.
House Bill 1326 seeks the e-mail addresses, chat room identities and text message handles of the state’s roughly 4,500 child sex offenders. Those who fail to provide accurate information or no information at all will face separate felony charges and a revocation of their parole.
Sex offenders must register e-mail under new laws starting July 1
I can get behind this one. It touches some privacy issues, but considering the high rates of recidivism and the extraordinary counts of offenses that sexual predators of this type rack up, monitoring in every way possible is probably justified.

Not 45 minutes from where I live is a cement plant run by Cemex. I first heard of Cemex– I first noticed Cemex, at least– about a year ago because they were petitioning to burn tires in their kilns.
This weekend a group of activists popped up at my door asking for support in their campaign against Cemex’s Lyon’s plant. There is quite a bit written about this online already, so I’m not going to be terribly verbose.

Responding to Senator Edwards’ comments that the war on terror is a “bumper sticker slogan”, Tancredo declares a different kind of war.
“If Senator Edwards is saying that the war on terror doesn’t exist, I would agree”, Congressman Tancredo said. “Terror is a tactic used by the enemy with which we are at war. The enemy is radical Islam, and if he does not believe that, then he is delusional. America can’t afford a president that is an ostrich, with his head in the sand on this issue.”
