Weird s*^% like integrity and honor and oaths and such

A quick redirect to an interesting bit of news. Ray McGovern, “veteran Army intelligence officer and a former CIA analyst for 27 years’ as per his signature line, has written a letter to Gen. Fallon about attacking Iran. In this letter he talk about oaths taken to uphold the constitution and about the general stupidity of attacking Iran. The letter has already been published online in a number of places. Check Google or read it where I found it–peterthottam.com

Bush and Cheney Arrested

Well, not really but maybe if theystop for gas in the wrong towns in Vermont. Yes, this is a symbolic gesture. It isn’t the first though.

I’d prefer we go after his boss but…

Democrats.com has a petition, which I’ve already written about in Now that the Democrats have the House… but which is worth reprinting:

I support the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the following reasons:

1. Violating the United Nations Charter by launching an illegal “War of Aggression” against Iraq without cause, using fraud to sell the war to Congress and the public, and misusing government funds to begin bombing without Congressional authorization.

I kill children

I kill children
I love to see them die
I kill children
And make their mamas cry
Crush ‘em under my car
I wanna hear them scream
Feed ‘em poison candy
To spoil their Halloween

Dead Kennedys

I can’t quite figure out when it became OK to kill kids in the name of “gettin’ the job done”.

The U.S. launched a military missile strike Monday targeting a terrorist suspect in a Somali town held by Islamic extremists, officials said. Residents and police in the town said a home was destroyed and at least eight people, including four children, were seriously injured.

Take a peek at 01:10 to about 01:20. That isn’t the story I heard.

Friendly Fire

This piece from Salon has been in my “must get to” pile for a several weeks, though it dates from March ‘07. It has been gnawing on my brain.

I have talked to more than 20 female veterans of the Iraq war in the past few months, interviewing them for up to 10 hours each for a book I am writing on the topic, and every one of them said the danger of rape by other soldiers is so widely recognized in Iraq that their officers routinely told them not to go to the latrines or showers without another woman for protection.
