Once in awhile, someone writes a few lines that cut to the heart of things.
The mythology of the British Empire, the subject of Rudyard Kipling’s poem “Gunga Din,” was founded on racist fantasies of a white man’s burden. So too, the “War on Terror,” clash of civilizations crowd believes Western Whitey must subjugate the Barbarian Brown Moslem Horde through force and conversion to (Christianist) democracy (see also American conservative racism on display in the right’s obsession with brown people crossing our southern border).

This ought to stick in some intelligently designed craws.
Conservatives Against Intelligent Design
[edit June 15, 2006]
I knew CAID would annoy the ID-ists, and I am not terribly surprised that it annoyed this particular bunch of ID-ists.
Well, it started up at the end of May, so it’s not all that new. This goes to show you that conservatives can be just as close-minded as anybody else. What we need now is liberal support for ID and we’ll be all set! Go here to check it out.

StealthBadger pretty succinctly nails the gaping hole in any hard free market argument.
Imagine if your phone company decided that people who didn’t pay an “express service” surcharge were subject to a 5-30 second hold time before a call was placed. Or bursts of static during the conversation. Or outright disconnects.
The House meets our low expectations

I absolutely could not have put this better.
This is truly saddening: rather than using language to communicate, to reason, and to inspire, the anti-evolutionists use language to bully and to destroy. Words have no intrinsic meaning, or, as Seymour Hersh put it, “Words mean nothing … They are just utterances.” When words exist only to manipulate, discerning the truth–or at least, some approximation of the truth–is impossible. Instead, words become and exist only as weapons in a never-ending war of the conservatives’ own choosing.Mike the Mad Biologist: Words as Weapons

I am trying not to post too much that is no more than a reference to an article or report. But this is too powerful to let it get away.
Please boycott me.While you are at it, boycott all other American professors. Do not invite us to conferences. Do not publish our work. Do not read our blogs (after this post, of course). We have a lot to answer for.
